Job Summary of Mechanical Maintenance Specialist:

As part of the Supply Chain team, you will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations. Your work will contribute to the success of Staples by maintaining systems that are essential for our product delivery.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Mechanical Maintenance Specialist:

• Perform preventative and spontaneous maintenance on conveyors, electrical motors, material handling equipment, skill saws, propane torches, man-lifts, hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, grinders, and electrical test equipment.
• Conduct general building maintenance including overhead doors, roll carts, floor repair, second-level gates, doors, and light plumbing work.
• Perform carpentry tasks as needed to maintain and repair equipment and buildings.
• Ensure safe work practices and adhere to Staples’ safety culture.
• Support the team by ensuring maintenance procedures are followed and equipment downtime is minimized.

Qualifications and Experience of Mechanical Maintenance Specialist:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 1+ year of related maintenance experience.
• Ability to pass a drug screen to the extent legally permissible.
• Ability to work additional hours, including overtime, based on business needs.
• Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet or more as needed.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull boxes or merchandise weighing between 70 pounds and 100 pounds by hand.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, pneumatics, and the ability to learn to read blueprints/schematics, including electrical schematics.
• Ability to use vendor manuals and procedures to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
• Ability to become MHE certified to operate power material handling equipment (e.g., Forklift, Electric Pallet Jack).
• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature variations.
• Basic English language skills, both verbal and written.
